Spring is just around the corner and our classroom has been springing into action with a lot of projects and seasonal fun. Thank you for your generous donation to help with supplies and for your time to make these projects possible. This week, we focused on individuality and used the book, Only One You, to help celebrate what makes everyone unique. We will do a writing activity and art projects, including painting our own pet rock, to go along with the book. Next week, our students will work on their leprechaun traps as a STEAM project and will be using engineering design processes to plan and create their traps. On St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday, March 17th, we will see if our traps will be successful in capturing a leprechaun. A big project that is coming up is our puppet making day! Please let me know if you are able to come help our class. We need glue guns and some help prepping with this project still. Contact me via class dojo or email if you are able to help.
In math, our class has started on Unit 6, which is all about graphs, comparison, and data. 2nd trimester is coming to a close so the next few weeks, we will spend time finishing up some assessments. Report cards will go home on Wednesday, March 18th.
Our field trip to Ardenwood is about a month away. I am still waiting on permission slips, so please make sure to turn these in soon. If you marked that you want to be a chaperone on this field trip, I will contact you mid-March with more information.
Lastly, our school has taken sanitary precautions by having our school janitors do weekly wipe downs on table surfaces in our classrooms. I have asked students to wash hands, use hand sanitizers, and wipe down our desks more regularly. I know that hand sanitizers and lysol/clorox wipes seem to be scarce right now, but our class is need of replenishment of these items. I've updated the items on our wishlist.
