February was so jam packed with all kinds of events and we are only at the start of the month! Our 100th day of school brought in so many cool projects and it was great to see the students presenting their items and talking about how their family members helped them. Thank you so much for having your child create something meaningful to present to their friends! Last week also brought in Global Play Day and the students truly enjoyed just being kids. Many students learned new board games, played with different friends, and shared lots of laughs with one another.
This week, we will have a presentation by our school nurse, Ms. Ruth, to help emphasize the importance of hand washing and how to do it properly. With all the scares around the world and students being sick during the flu season, it would be great to emphasize to students how to take care of our health through good hygiene. Then, on Friday, we will allot some time in class for students to pass out Valentine cards. If you plan on having your child pass out cards, please make sure to bring it Friday, 2/14.
On Friday, February 28th, our class will have an in-class field trip put on by a naturalist at Sulphur Creek. The naturalist will bring various animals to our classroom and the students will get a chance to learn about the different characteristics of each animal. The lesson will be engaging and is also aligned with our science curriculum. On April 2nd, we will have another field trip to Ardenwood Historic Farm. More information will be sent out about this field trip at the end of February or early March.
Lastly, February is Black History Month so all month long, we will be learning about several important African Americans figures who have made a difference in our society. Help your child reinforce the learning in class by checking out books at the Fremont library. Reading biographies is a great way to introduce our young readers to more nonfiction texts.
Upcoming Schedule:
-Tuesday, 2/11: Dine Out Night @ Blaze Pizza
-Friday, 2/14: Valentine's Day
-Monday, 2/17: President's Day - No School
-Friday, 2/28: Sulphur Creek In-Class Field Trip / Reading Log Due
-Wednesday, 3/18: Trimester 2 Report Cards go home
