Our second round of parent-teacher conferences start on March 22nd. Please click here to schedule a 20-minute conference time with me. Don't forget that March 22nd - March 31st will be minimum days, so dismissal time is at 1:05pm.
This month, we will start our balance and motion science unit. We just finished wrapping up our biography unit and writing informational texts. Below you will see a few timeline samples that students completed on Misty Copeland, the first African American Principal Dancer at the American Ballet Theater in NYC. They completed the timeline on google draw after reading about her on Time for Kids and watching a short video about her. They are also working on completing an informational writing piece about what makes Misty Copeland an inspirational figure. Next trimester, we will work on writing opinion pieces.
The students will be completing the ELA, math, and writing benchmark assessments this week and next week. So far this school year, they have done such a great job using chromebooks appropriately and are starting to feel a lot more comfortable completing assessments on the chromebooks. It has been such an amazing progression!
The optional March challenge homework is now available for students to complete on the homework tab.
For the upcoming field trip this Friday, please make sure your child wears comfortable walking shoes and pack a disposable lunch bag. We will be eating lunch outside of the Art Museum and we don't want any students leaving behind any lunch bags.
Also, this Wednesday is Read Across America Day and your child has the option of bringing in one stuffed animal, a pillow, and/or a blanket to class.
