I am extremely grateful to have so many parent volunteers come out to help with our classroom Halloween festivities. On behalf of the class, I want to thank Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Brady, Mr. Tu, Mrs. Applebaum, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Huston, Mrs. McCormick, Mrs. Tonari, and Mr. Lim. Doing crafts and playing outdoor games are things students truly cherish so I thank you for taking the time out to help. I also want to thank all the parents who also showed up to cheer on the students during our school parade. I've posted some pictures on class dojo and make sure to look out for pictures on our shutterfly account too.
As we approach November, we will be wrapping up our Life Cycle Unit. The students were introduced to google draw and created wonderful diagrams showing the life cycle of a butterfly, which is exciting because our painted lady butterflies just emerged from their chrysalis this week! See below for some google draw diagrams created by some of our students. They worked really hard on these.
We have several projects planned in November and December. High school students will be visiting our class on November 6th to help us create an iMovie/Stop Motion project. It will be tied in with storytelling and poetry. In December, I will send out information about a project called Marketplace where students will learn about economics and money. Look out for information about this in the near future!
In the next two weeks, students will be taking their first district benchmark testing for math and reading. These tests are completed on the chromebooks. They will also take their writing assessment on narratives, which will be hand written. I will also be assessing students again on AR and SRI, the tests that I've talked to you about during conferences. If you have any questions about these, please let me know.
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
