During the last week of March, we have our last field trip for the school year to Levi's Stadium. Our field trip is on Monday, March 27th. Please make sure to have your child bring the following:
In the last trimester of 2nd grade, we will be closing out our science unit on Forces and Motion and going into our Rock and Soil Unit. In Social Studies, we will learn about family history and students will need your help in completing their family tree and learning about where their ancestors came from. In writing, we are diving into Opinion Writing and students have already expressed high interest in the writing prompts that we've introduced in class. For reading, the last week of RTI is April 17th. Afterwards, students will get pulled in small groups for reading intervention as needed and will continue to work on Reading Comprehension Skills, with a focus on Craft and Structure as we start learning more about words and phrases in stories and poems. In math, our focus will be working on arrays and equal groups, measurement, shapes, data, time and money. Our students are learning how to explain their math reasoning more and they have been working on doing so using the Explain Everything App on the iPads. If you would like to view some of their math explanations, click here.
For spelling homework, the latest spelling grid will have empty boxes for you and your child to do any open-ended spelling activity of your choice. Also, please note that www.SpellingCity.com requires that you create an account, even for free accounts. In order for you to access some of the free games, please make sure to register.
With allergy season upon us, many of our students have some drippy noses. If you are able to donate, I've included a few things on our classroom wishlist to help replenish some much needed items.
Earlier this month, Noddin hosted an Auction Night to raise money for our school. There are a few Buy-A-Spots available including one that Mrs. Tabayoyon and I will be hosting on Friday, April 21st. If you would like to learn more about the Buy-A-Spot and to sign your child up, click here (all money raised goes to Noddin).
Also, if there are any Scholastics Book Order you would like to place this month, the last day to submit is on Friday, 3/30.
Lastly, I want to say THANK YOU to those who attended and participated in Multicultural Night on Tuesday. It was great to see all the diversity displayed at Noddin and seeing students get excited about learning about all the different cultures. I am truly grateful to be a part of such a diverse, caring, and community-oriented school.
